I know it is technically spring according to the calendar, but the weather lately has been anything but spring-like. With the possibility of snow again this week, I am looking forward to the days when snow is not in the forecast in April and the cherry trees actually start to bloom on Long Island. Last year at this time the trees were at peak bloom, so I wanted to throw it back to those warmer times. I checked on one of my favorite cherry tree spots the other day to see if any of the trees were close to blooming and the trees still looked like they did in February. Hopefully soon those trees will start to bloom, I’m in need of some serious signs of spring!
Lovely. Those pink buds are so bold, yet the overall effect is of softness. It was a beautiful day today, like an oasis in a desert of wind and rain, yet the plants are rightly suspicious. They need more than just one day to kick start them into action.
