2017 was both a good and bad year. When I think of the highlights of 2017, traveling to Nepal is definitely number one on the list, followed by meeting one of my favorite artists, Gavin DeGraw after a concert and finally seeing all five members of Fleetwood Mac together in concert. But, the year also had some tough moments including the loss of my dog in November who was more like a furry sister to me than a dog and a little health issue in the fall that had me thinking I needed to lose my gallbladder. I’m looking forward to heading into 2018. The last few months of 2017 were not the best, but you get a clean slate in the new year, so hopefully better things are to come.
Before the book is officially closed on 2017, I wanted to share some of my favorite photographs from the year.
Photographing butterflies on flowers and plants is one of my favorite things. Two years ago, I was lucky enough to finally capture my first one and every now and then, the butterflies allow me to photograph them from a distance. Over the summer as I was walking into Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay, I happened across this scene in the parking lot.
There was just something about this bike planter at Clark Botanic Gardens in Albertson, NY, that made me stop and photograph it on one of my many visits there.
As much as I love dahlias, sunflowers will always be my top favorite flower and there was an abundance of them to photograph this August. This lone orange sunflower that grew among a sea of yellow sunflowers was my favorite to photograph when I stumbled upon it.
I shared my favorite photo of the year the other day from Kathmandu, Nepal and this photo taken in the mountains of Dharan is another one of my favorites from my trip in February.
Be well, beautiful work. We love the same flowers
