One of my favorite places is the North Fork of Long Island. If I wouldn’t be stuck with an almost two hour commute to work everyday, I would easily move out there in a second. The next best thing to living out there is driving out on the weekends for a visit, especially in the spring and summer when there is so much to do and see.
A visit to the North Fork is not complete without a stop at my favorite farm, Briermere Farms in RIverhead. They always have the most beautiful flowers for sale, delicious fruit and the best pies you can buy on Long Island. No matter the size of the line, it is worth it for a slice of their apple crisp. I think every photo I have of the sunflowers out east are from one of my many visits to Briermere and this weekend when I went it was too early for the sunflowers but they had the prettiest just cut peonies for sale. I could not resist buying a bunch and photographing them. They smell as good as they look, my place smells like heaven right now thanks to the peonies!
It is also strawberry season on Long Island and the strawberries above from Briermere may have been some of the best strawberries I have ever had!
Those peonies are so beautiful!
