Red Carpet Style: 2017 Academy Awards

oscars2017mahershalaWhen you accidentally fall asleep with still about an hour to go before the award for best film is handed out at the Academy Awards, you apparently miss a lot! I’m not much of a see movie in the theater person (with the exception of The Hunger Games series) so it is rare that I have seen a movie that is nominated for an Oscar before the show airs. Though this year I did see Florence Foster Jenkins which Meryl Streep was nominated for and my love for Hugh Grant could not make me like the movie. One movie I really want to see is Moonlight and I really wished I stayed awake to see them not win but then win for Best Picture. I love Mahershala Ali from House of Cards, so I’ve been so happy to see him picking up basically every award he was nominated for. His acceptance speeches have made me cry and he deserves all the recognition he is getting.

I mainly watch the Oscars for the fashion and this year the fashion was pretty incredible, it was hard picking only a few favorites. Here are my top 6 favorite looks of the night.

My favorite of the night was Taraji P. Henson in the blue velvet Alberta Ferretti dress. The dress was beautiful on her and the necklace was perfect. Kate McKinnon was another favorite in a Narciso Rodriguez dress that wasn’t super flashy but made a statement. Viola Davis is always one of my favorites on the red carpet and that is the dress you wear to win an Oscar in. The color of her Armani Privé was perfect on her and I loved the style of it.

Chrissy Teigen looked stunning in her Zuhair Murad dress. The color and style of Octavia Spencer’s Marchesa dress was perfect. I loved seeing the ball gown style on her. I wasn’t a huge fan at first of Emma Stone’s dress until I saw the movement from the fringe on the bottom. Her hair style was a favorite of mine from the night.
