My 5 Favorite Photos of 2016

With only a few days left in 2016, I wanted to share 5 of my favorite photos I took this year. Thanks to my huge creative block, my resolution of exploring more with my camera in 2016 did not go exactly as planned, I can always try again in 2017!

Butterfly captured at Clark Botanic Gardens in Albertson, New York. Photo by Alyson Goodman. Cannot be used without permission.

Being at Clark Botanic Garden at the right time worked out in my favor for this photo. I was taking some photos of the zinnia when the butterfly landed and I made sure not to make any sudden movements to not spook it before I could capture the shot.

When you live in a beach town and a tropical storm or hurricane hits, the ocean will always be filled with surfers. This was during tropical storm Hermine which thankfully aside from some rain didn’t leave any damage in the town I live in.

This was my year of tulip photos, probably 75% of the photos I took this year are of the flower thanks to all the gardens I visited planting so many beautiful varieties. I love capturing flowers right after it rains before all the water droplets have disappeared.

Without a tripod I never thought I would be able to photograph fireworks but I tried it this year and was so happy that at least I got one decent shot out of the hundreds I took.

Winter may have just started but I’m already looking forward to the cherry trees blooming in late winter/early spring at the museum across the street from my job.
