I’m always on the hunt for new photography spots on Long Island that aren’t just gardens. I had been seeing photographs taken at the campus of LIU Post and hearing that it is a great photography spot, but I had never checked it out despite the fact that the campus is right down the road from where I work. My sister got engaged a few months ago and I did an engagement shoot with her and her fiancé at a local park for her save the dates but when she booked her photographer, her package came with an engagement session she decided to do it at the LIU Post campus. I went along with them to be on hand for hair and makeup touchups and also to sneak some photos on her phone, but I did some exploring on my own while on the campus and discovered that it is a truly beautiful place to take pictures. The campus is the former estate of the inventor of the breakfast cereal Charles William Post. For her session we were by Winnick House which also has a rose garden that I’m looking forward to returning to next summer when the flowers are in full bloom.
LIU Post is located at 720 Northern Blvd., Brockville, NY 11548.
