Above the streets of Manhattan

Last week I celebrated my 30th birthday. Since I live a 45 minute train ride away from Manhattan, I wanted to celebrate my 30th birthday in the city. I’ve wanted to visit The High Line park ever since I heard about it so I figured my birthday celebration could start there. The High Line is a park that is elevated above the streets of Manhattan on rail road tracks that aren’t used anymore. I knew that there was of course all kinds of plants on The High Line, but I had no idea that there were sculptures scattered throughout the park as well as other forms of art mixed in along the way. It also offers great views of the Hudson River, some sneaky peeks at the Empire State building and all the great architecture you get to see of the buildings that run alongside The High Line as you walk by and in some cases under them. I now have a new favorite destination in Manhattan.
