No-bake baking

I’m not a big fan of baking, but for some reason around the holidays I get the urge to bake. This year I decided to go the no-bake route for some holiday treats. I started making what is known as white trash a few years ago and decided to at least start off my no-bake treats with something I know turns out well. White trash is a mix of whatever goes well with melted white chocolate. It is so quick and easy to make and tastes great.

White Trash

  • 2- 12 oz. packages of white chocolate chips (I use Nestle Premier White)
  • 1 cup pretzels broken into pieces
  • 1 cup Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 bag of M&M’s (I used plain, but you can use any variety)
  • Sprinkles

You will also need parchment paper and a baking sheet

1) In a bowl combine pretzels, Rice Chex and M&M’s.
2) Melt white chocolate chips according to package directions. I melt my chips in the microwave, I just find it easier since white chocolate hardens quicker than regular chocolate and if you burn the chocolate you can’t use it.
3) Pour the melted white chocolate over the pretzels, Chex and M&M’s and mix until coated.
4) Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the mixed ingredients out in a single layer on the parchment paper. Add some sprinkles to the top.
5) Refrigerate for 15 minutes or until white chocolate hardens. Break into pieces.

You can really add anything that goes well with chocolate to this such as marshmallows, peppermint, Rice Krispies cereal, Reeses Pieces, etc.

This year I did a variation and made black and white trash. I split the ingredients in half and used one bag of white chocolate chips and one bag of chocolate chips. If you do this, just know that regular chocolate takes longer to harden than white chocolate. I ended up putting it into the freezer for a half hour to harden.
